Saturday's Adventures

Sometimes on the weekends, we just hang out at home and do not too much of anything.  Last weekend was not one of those weekends   Last Saturday we headed over to Mississippi and met some of Steve's family and went to the MAiZe.  It was a beautiful day:

The girls were excited that there was a playground, so, of course, we had to play there first

Then we went through the 2-mile maze.  It was so much fun - they had checkpoints throughout the maze and before you went in, you chose a passport sheet that gave you questions to ask at each checkpoint and if you answered the question correctly, the passport told you which way to turn.  We got the Tiny Tot one so that Gracie could answer the questions.  (We also got a couple of others, and trust me when I say that Gracie did far better with her questions than the adults did with theirs ).

Here are Steve and Abigail about halfway through:

And just to prove that it was a real, live corn maze, here's a shot of some corn on the stalk:

And here are the cousins after we finally made it out of the maze

After the maze, we headed to the Cow Train.  Abigail said she wanted to ride, so she, Steve, Gracie, and cousin Matthew stood in line.  Steve crammed himself into on of the tiny cow cars and I handed Abigail to him.  She then decided that she didn't want to ride.  Steve decided that he was stuck in the little tiny cow and finished the ride.

Gracie loved this ride!

Next up was the hayride.  I think this was my favorite part - I love a good hayride.  I love a bad hayride, too - I'm easy to please

Then, we headed to the concession stand and got some lunch.  While we were waiting, the girls practiced rolling down the hill.

And then Abigail practiced eating flowers.  (Truthfully, I think she was just sniffing them, but it looks more like she was eating them to me)

Then, it time to head back home, because we had another adventure for Saturday.  The church where the girls go to school was having a Fall Festival and Gracie knew some of her friends were going to be there, so we really couldn't miss it.  It was a wonderful thing - they had all kinds of bouncie things and slides and several games.  Most of them were free.  Gracie, of course, fell in love with the one activity that wasn't free.  Now, when she said that she wanted to do this, you could have knocked me over with a feather.  She's always been a little bit afraid of heights (although, I'm pretty sure she's getting over that ).  I was a touch nervous, though, especially when she stepped into the harness and the lady fastened her up.  Here's my girl - the once and future rock climber:

She made it up about ten feet the first time.  After we walked around the festival, she asked to do it again.  So we let her - she made it up a little higher this time.  I think I need to look for a place for her to do this more often!
