Layoutpalooza

No real blog entry today.  I just thought I'd post a few of my latest layouts for your viewing pleasure .   The girls and I have had a pretty good, but busy week...We had a wonderful time today with Aunt Cindy, but I'll tell you more about that tomorrow because I have to wait until I see the pictures (ones that I didn't take, does that give you a hint and if you guess that I took them somewhere to have their pictures taken, guess again!)  Are you curious now?  Curious enough to read tomorrow?  Did I reel you in with my mystery-novel-like suspense?  Stop - I can see you rolling your eyes now.....So, on with the layouts...click on them for full credits

Here's some pictures of hummingbirds that I took on sister's front porch.  Abigail and I sat out there for an hour before they'd come close enough for me to shoot (with my camera, for all you people who know how I feel about birds).  Let me tell you, I was not cut out to be a hummingbird photographer!

This is a picture that I took in Granpoppy's garden last December.   I've always wanted to scrap this page and have even started to several times, but I never got the effect that I wanted.  Finally, I was given this
Versatility kit by Doreen Stolz as one of my Supreme Team kits and it had exactly what I wanted to use.

Okay, please don't send me any parenting advice after you see this page.  I realize that letting Gracie eat ice cream out of the bucket doesn't exactly qualify me for Mom of the year and yes I know about the rise in childhood obesity and that portion control is a large part of that.  To my credit, there wasn't a lot of ice cream left in the bucket - it's not like I let her eat and eat and eat...just long enough for me to get these pictures (anything for a cute picture, you know)...

Some pictures from the zoo - aside from the polar bears, I think these guys are my favorite!

A couple of pictures from the Butterfly exhibit.  I love how you can see the butterfly's antennae thingys (hey, I'm not a zoologist, I don't know what they're called) sticking into the flowers...I used my Sigma macro lens for these pictures - I'm still loving this lens...

And okay, here's one that I'm particularly proud of.  I took this picture in our kitchen  - that's our kitchen table.  Steve saw it and said, "Our Kitchen Table?"  Notice there are no sewing machines or any of Gracie's empty sippie cups in sight.  I got everything on the table at Wal-Mart (I'm thinking about taking it to them and seeing if they want to use it in an ad - ha, ha, ha - I even crack myself up!).   Anyway, I'm also proud of this because this is my sample photo for my very first photography challenge at GoDigitalScrapbooking - the challenge that I'm running.  That's right!  Me!  Every two weeks, I post a challenge to take a certain kind of photograph and the first one was to take a picture by candlelight.  I'm excited about doing this because it's helping me with my photography and it's forcing me to research different photographic techniques and I'm getting to work with some other great people.

And, believe it or not, it's already time for another Supreme Team competition at GoDigitalScrapbooking.  You may remember, I competed in May and was selected for the team and was over the moon about it.  Well, I'll be just as excited if I'm picked again.  I'm much more relaxed this time.  Not because the competition is any less stiff - it's still intense.  There are some incredibly talented scrappers competing.  I think I'm more relaxed because I know what to expect and I think I'm a lot more confident in my skills than I was four short months ago.  Anyway, I've made it to the third round (two more to go to find out if I'm one of the 12!) and here's my first round LO.  Here's a funny about these pictures:  We were outside in Sister's backyard and the sky was just so incredibly blue and I thought what a pretty background it would make for a "throw your kid up in the air picture".  So I told Steve to stand away from me, I lay down on the ground, and then told him to throw Abbie up in the air.  And he did - about one millimeter away from his fingers.  I said, "Throw her higher!" but he refused.  Now if you know anything about our usual parenting roles of Me as the "don't do that - it'll hurt her" parent and Him as the "oh, they'll be okay - kids bounce" parent, you'll understand why that is so funny.

And here's my second round layout:

Don't forget to check back tomorrow to find out about the mystery pictures....
